Good basic phone, great if you like to tinker and mod - 16 Jun 2007

This is a great little phone that looks very nice and is really slim. The ability to slip it into a pocket without it feeling bulky is one of the things I look for.
The metallic finish is surprisingly scratch resistant and feels sturdy (even though it's very light 80-something grams I think).
The not-very-good things are the camera and the screen, both of which are too low resolution for a modern phone. Even if you dont use the camera, a screen which is low res like this means texts only display a few lines and WAP browsing is a chore.
The *great* thing about this (and the L2/L7) is that you can buy the USB cable for peanuts, it's a standard mini-USB, and with that you can charge the phone from your PC and of course transfer files, ringtones (it takes mp3 tones), AND if you're feeling adventurous you can mess around with the firmware of the phone to unlock features, add new fonts and "skins" etc etc. Personally I unlocked the quadband feature (in this country providers usually lock it to triband) which I needed for traveling, and also I added the "funlights" functionality, which is hidden. I could have added a whole new iPhone-like interface, or a bunch of other mods if I'd wanted. If you're an unrepentant geek, this adds a whole new dimension to the phone. Motorola L6 mobile - 19 Apr 2007

I bought this mobile on the recomendation of other people who bought it and the rating it got.My recomendation is a lot less 2 star. The phone itself looks the part and has plenty of gismos in it but the one thing you want from a phone is a good signal the L6 lacks big time.My own phone from the word go had a vey poor signal and now four months after buying it there is no signal at all and I now have no phone and have to return it to Amazon.

I have the Motorola L2 in the States but my US mobile came locked and before I left I didn't have time to unlock it. SO, for Christmas I was given the L6 which is wonderful because, it has a camera (lacking on the L2), still has the great flat shape that works perfectly just slipping it into a pocket, and has the vibe and ring feature which I love.
Vodafone's free weekends haven't been tested by me yet, but apparently the offer is to top up with at least £5 during the week and you get free calls all weekend. And they also send you a text saying that if you only use £2.50 of your top up you get free texts--don't quote me on that though. You can also find out details on http://www.vodafone.co.uk
Charging is easy, and the initial setup is extremely painless. The SIM card comes already inserted, you just have to insert the battery, put on the back plate of the phone, and then plug it in to charge! Dialing *#100# on your phone gives you your mobile number and then you can register at vodafone's website and even top up online.
I love this phone, and I pretty much hated Motorola before I got this phone (and my L2)! So, I'm a happy Sony Ericsson convert.
Just a note - 24 Sep 2006

Just a note saying this phone is exactly the same (as far as I can tell) as the other vodafone L6 pay as you talk shown on the search page. It doesn't come with a TopUp card but they're easily found almost anywhere for free.
