Fed up with paying for colour screens, built-in cameras and other novelties that drain your battery, bump up the cost and the weight but are actually pointless ? Then buy one of these. It's so good, I've just bought 2 more as spares. It comes with £5 of Virgin airtime, but you can just stick your Vodafone SIM in if you want.
My wife had a Sony Ericsson T610 and swapped for this, because it's easier to use and has better battery life.
I had a Nokia 6310i, supposedly the best business phone ever, but unless I need the Bluetooth in the car, or tri-band for going to the US, I now use an 1100 instead: lighter, faster switch-on, better keypad locking (no more embarrassing calls to 999, and it's got a torch so I can find the lock in my car door !
Just brilliant.

I had a camera phone with bluetooth, calender etc etc for 6 months. After playing with these things initially and being impressed i never used them, all i did was call and text. The other menus were cumbersome and got in the way. What i wanted was a top quality phone, for texting and calls. Enter the 1100!! This phone is fantastic! its small, big keys, nice screen. Everything is in the right place and the menus are extremely fast. The battery life is outstanding. 2 weeks worth from one charge! I cant speak highly enough of this phone. Also the phone comes with a virgin sim card, which means 3p texts to my gf! After showing my friend this phone he bought 2 the next day! Finally the phone works with my vodafone sim card too, with no unlocking.
A WHOLE PHONE FOR THE COST OF JUST THE BATTERY!!! - 26 Jan 2005

I was in need of a new battery (BL-5C) for my Nokia N-Gage, which cost between £19.99 and £24.99 for a genuine Nokia replacement, and i saw this Nokia 1100 at £19.99.
It has the exact same battery supplied with it as my N-Gage model takes (the long life BL-5C and not the shorter life BL-4C) and so i decided to buy this complete package instead, containing the battery i need, a Nokia 1100, sim card and a charger.
So, for the cost of just the battery i get the phone etc for free!!! How can i complain!
AND it's delivered to my door free of charge!
I doubt i'll ever use the phone with it being Nokia's newest budget model -plain and simple in looks and features, so i'll stick my old nokia battery in it and give it away. It would make an ideal 'starter' phone for somebody. I could even sell it, my old battery lasts ages in the Nokia 1100 as it drains very little power when in use.Very different compared to my power hungry n-gage!
So, my N-Gage has a new battery, i have a spare sim card and phone, my wallets not been hurt and i'm one happy chappy.
BARGAIN! BARGAIN! BARGAIN!
x-mas Nokia! - 25 Dec 2004

I got my Nokia 1100 on 25th December 2004, at about 9:15, and I think it's great! Just as long as it does what a normal and simple phone does (calls, recieves, sends texts, and recieves texts) I'm OK. Sure i'd like a phone with a camera, video, and polyphonic rigtones, colour, wicked graphics.....the lot, but this phone is fine for me, it's quick and easy to use. It's small, light, noticeable and looks quite cool. That's all I'm asking for, and so should you....

I bought this phone for my mother as it's straightforward and the Nokia menu system is easy to get used to. I also have one of my own, courtesy of my employer. For normal calls and texting, the phone is just fine and the up & down arrows give you either the last five numbers dialled or your full contacts list without having to go through the menus. Reception is good in low signal areas and it slips into your pocket no problem. A nice simple little mobile.
