Still great after all these years! - 23 Jun 2007

This phone turned heads when it first came out and still cuts the mustard - I love it! It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some phones, but it does all the basics well. It looks great, it's got an easy menu system, the sound quality is great, the predictive text is easy and works well and that's all I ask. The camera is average but I don't normally want a phone to take pictures - I've got a camera that does that! I don't want to store hundreds of mp3 files because I've got an iPod for that. But as a phone it's brilliant - strong, thin and light. In fact I'm thinking of getting another one for when this one wears out.
Nice phone but every... one has one. - 09 Nov 2006

Funny thing, since I got this phone I noticed that now everyone seems to have one. I'm not surprised as it is a good phone and not as fragile as it looks.
Unlike some phones the menu system is very nice to use (though I recommend switching the main menu to "list" instead of "icons") and most of the menus can be reordered so it is easy to find the things you need most. The predictive txt function is very good when you get used to it and most importantly it is a very comfortable shape to hold to your ear.
There are a few things I dislike, most of which are not Motorola's fault at all but Orange's, First They have disabled the option to record video as mpeg, something that with the original settings the phone is capable of, they have also made the small screen display the orange logo whenever the phone is open. Both of these problems can be fixed using a computer and the right software but doing so will invalidate your warranty. The other problem I have found is that any grease that is on the keys when you shut the phone is transfered to the screen, meaning that it picks up dust with the pastern of the numbers.
The Good:
Lightweight
Large screen
Easy to use
Fits into your pocket very well.
Clam design means screen is protected
The Bad:
Screen picks up dust
Orange have disabled record video as mpeg
Leather cases for it are useless.
The Ugly:
That damn orange logo, I wish I went for a sim free.
Best phone I've ever had!!!!!!!!!! - 28 Jun 2006

I can't believe some of the negative reviews on this, it doesn't buzz at all, I have owned several mobiles over ten years and this is the best phone I've ever had, works as good as it looks and I've even purchased another as a spare! Nothing else touches this phone. Not that fragile, you can drop it short distances and it carries on. I don't use predictive text so I can't comment on that but normal texting is fine. Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!

The phone is slick and trendy, with an impressive light weight design and compact flip top function, the phone is easily one of the fashion phones of the moment. The only let down is the lack of memeory, very soon after you use the phonebook and camera, the memory will start to become full. Also, there are very few accessories availiable for the phone, this isn't too important as it does have a built in loudspeaker, that is much better than the Sony phone that I had before. It also has a reasonable selection of ringtones and wallpapers, much unlike some packages that have only half a dozen of each. I have actually dropped the phone, and it has been ok, so it it must be very robust! The battery life is reasonable, I charge it about twice a week and it is used frequently and left on all night. The keypad is metal, and does not have the 3-d type keys that can become clogged up with dust, several £200+ phones still use this cheap method and after one year you have to take it apart to clean it, very annoying! This keypad will stand up to a lot of use and it is of course protected by the overall style of the phone, which is that of a flip top, the screen will also stay nice and scratch free. The phine is about 4" big and 1" thick. Very impressed, apart from the small memory.

Overall the Motorola V3 works well, it has all the usual features bluetooth, camera with zoom etc.... I was dissapointed to find that it was not compatible with microsoft so I could not transfer pictures straight onto my computer- will try a bluetooth usb pen- not sure if it will work yet. The camera isn't great, it only has a digital zoom so pictures can be fuzzy and there is no flash but it does the job. There also only appears to be room for 90 messages - in and outboxes combined - which often isn't enough!! Charging it only takes about 2-3 hours which is good if you're in a rush, there is a good range of volumes so you can usually hear the person at the other end, even in a relatively noisy room, it doesn't break easily- I'm quite clumsy and always drop my phone- haven't broken it so far (touch wood). Anyway, I like my phone it works for me, I can take a few pictures of nights out with the girls, send texts, make calls and not have a really ugly phone! What more do I need!?
